The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD review

New Moon DVDI wasn’t sure what to expect from The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Following the incredible success of Twilight, there would obviously be more money to spend on the sequel, so the special effects were bound to be better. Although the screenwriter was the same, the director was new, and like many fans of the book, I was hoping it would be more faithful to original work.

I wasn’t disappointed. New Moon follows the book about as closely as you would hope a film could do in a little over two hours of screen time. In it, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and Edward Cullen’s (Robert Pattinson) relationship is thrown a curveball when she gets a paper cut on her birthday during a party at the Cullen’s house. Edward’s adopted brother Jasper (Jackson Rathbone), who hasn’t been with the Cullens as long as the other family members, loses control and tries to attack Bella. (more…)

The Robert Pattinson Album – book review

2 Sep 2009 | Category: New Moon,Twilight | Comments 2

bookNumerous books about Robert Pattinson are currently available, but most of them are by writers who specialize in teen idols and read as if they’ve been written for a teen magazine. The Robert Pattinson Album is penned by British author Paul Stenning, whose previous biographies have been about hard rock bands such as Guns ‘n’ Roses, AC/DC and Iron Maiden, so it’s refreshing and frank, and though complimentary at times, the book sometimes even lightly pokes fun at Pattison, though not in a mean spirited way.

This book has tons of photographs, from Rob as a model and his beginnings as an actor in stage productions, through Harry Potter and then Twilight, as well as candid shots and other rarities, but it also includes an in-depth look at his life, from his childhood, his school years and early television roles to his relationship with his parents. If you had any questions about Rob’s background before he hit it big in Twilight, you’ll likely find it in this book.

Filled with quotes from Robert, revealing his self-deprecation, his humorous way of looking at the world and at the situation he’s been thrown into, it also shows how bewildering sudden fame can be to someone who wasn’t actually searching to be famous, but rather, dislikes being in the midst of a lot of people. He’s quoted as saying: “All my life I’ve hated crowds. Now I only have to step outdoors and I’m in the centre of one.”

Pattinson admits he never intended for his music to appear on the Twilight soundtrack and when he found out it would be included, was hoping that it would appear under a pseudonym (he likes the nickname Spunk Ransom). He also reveals that he had trouble getting a girlfriend before, but jokes that since Twilight, “I could have any 12-year-old I wanted.” Amusing anecdotes from those around Rob are included as well. Catherine Hardwicke admits that when she asked her 70-year-old mother if she would like to meet Kristen (who plays Bella in Twilight) and Rob, she answered, “Just Rob.”

At 95 pages in length, with over 75 color photographs, the book can be found at, and other outlets for under $20. If you’re a Twilight and/or Rob fan, it’s well worth the price.

Robert Pattinson filming at Vancouver high school

Rob Pattinson on the set of EclipseRobert Pattinson was spotted in Vancouver on the set of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse yesterday at David Thompson Secondary School. It was the first sighting of him in costume as Edward Cullen since filming began last week. He was accompanied by Ashley Greene and Jackson Rathbone, who play his sister and brother. (In Eclipse, the older two Cullen siblings, Rosalie and Emmett, have graduated from high school). Pattinson is scheduled to film at the school again today and though security is tight, a few fan photos have leaked on to Twitter. We’re still waiting to see what Kristen Stewart will look like — she cut off her hair and dyed it for the Joan Jett bio pic she just finished, so she’ll be wearing a wig in the third Twilight instalment.

Twilight star bares all in new film

21 Aug 2009 | Category: Gossip,Twilight | Comment 1

rob_pattinson_kristen_stewartFollowing in the footsteps of Robert Pattinson, who did a nude love scene as the young artist Salvador Dali in the independent film Little Ashes prior to Twilight, his co-star Kristen Stewart has also bared all in an independent film called Welcome to The Rileys. In it, she portrays a teenage lap dancer/prostitute named Mallory. Her co-star, James Gandolfini, plays a man who leaves home after his teenage daughter’s death and winds up staying with Mallory, who likes to walk around naked, in her apartment. Stewart is hoping that Twilight fans will be excited about the film, saying: “It’s an independent movie that nobody would normally see and now it’s like, Oh, let’s go see Bella in this stripper movie; it’ll be crazy!” She added: “Working with James Gandolfini and (co-star) Melissa Leo, who is just incredible, was the most fruitful life-changing experience on a movie that I’ve ever had. It was just the hardest subject matter I’ve ever had to deal with — I play a very broken young girl who is a runaway. She’s a street kid. She’s working in a strip club and James Gandolfini’s character is just as dead inside as she is — and they wake each other up.”

The Mirror fakes Robert Pattinson interview

20 Aug 2009 | Category: Gossip | Comment 1

Rob Pattinson/MirrorThe UK newspaper The Mirror has published a fake interview with Robert Pattinson, in which he claims to be single. In addition to spelling Twilight incorrectly in the headline, they claim Pattinson is in Vancouver filming The Twilight Saga: New Moon (he’s filming The Twilight Saga: Eclipse). The article quotes Pattinson as saying, “I don’t have a girlfriend. I don’t know why. You always think you’re going to get more girls after you’ve made a movie and it never happens. You sit there and you’re like ‘I’m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models’ but I don’t know why that doesn’t happen.” Pattinson is, in fact, dating one of his Twilight co-stars (early reports said it was Nikki Reed, but currently evidence points to Pattinson’s leading lady, Kristen Stewart), according to (more…)
